Wiring a attic fan.... WORKED THEN STOPPED after a while.?

I wired up a attic fan worked for a while then stopped.... It has a thermostat the wires for that are wire nutted together... Do I have to run a hot wire to one of those wires.???..I think I had it wired direct... HELP!!
