How soon after your water breaks would contractions start?

I'm 34 weeks pregnant today and I just threw up a little while ago, as I was throwing up I gushed out some kind of liquid but I'm not sure what it was . Although this is my second pregnancy, I really wouldn't know because doctors broke my water for my first pregnancy .. Anyway, my question is : How soon after your water breaks would contractions start?
