How interchangeable are attic fan motors?

My attic fan motor (Nutone #D0810B2779) seized up, so I'm replacing it. I'm finding several replacement motors listed as Broan/Nutone...how interchangeable are they? Are they all built to the same dimensions (housing size, shaft size/shape, etc.)?
